The good thing about staying in Paralio Astros is that there are some wonderful places you can visit. Mycenae (Mikines) is one of the five-star places and I recommend a trip to take in the site and the fabulous museum. The site itself is famous for its Lion Gate, the citadel and the cyclopean walls. These are built with huge, heavy stones and later generations thought that men could not possibly have built them - they must be the work of the Cyclops.
When you visit Mycenae, I do recommend that you leave plenty of time to have a good look round the museum. They have truly beautiful things that are perfect in every way, and they are 3500 years old! You just can't stop saying "wow" as you walk around.
