Nemea

The good thing about staying in Paralio Astros is that there are some wonderful places you can visit. Nemea is a little-visited site which is under an hour away  by car. There is a small archaeological site with some very complete Roman baths, and an excellent little museum. The museum has an excellent scale model of how the site looked - this is in front of a big window overlooking the site itself. Just along the road is a second site with a stunning stadium. Nemea is the  location of one of the ancient games (along with Olympia, Delphi and Isthmia). There is a perfect tunnel between the 'undressing room' and the stadium, complete with ancient graffiti. They used a special starting gate to start the races, and there is a video demonstrating this in the museum. Definitely worth a look.
